Beulah Dolores Petty (96) of Effingham

Beulah Dolores Petty, 96, of Effingham, passed away Friday, April 19, 2013 at St. Anthony’s Memorial Hospital in Effingham.
Funeral Services will be at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, April 23, 2013 at Hall Funeral Chapel in Effingham, with Pastor Kevin Colclasure officiating. Visitation is from 9:00 a.m. until service time on Tuesday morning. Burial will be in Arborcrest Memorial Park Cemetery in Funkhouser.
Beulah was born September 14, 1916 in Cumberland County to Granville and Iva (Grissom) Kingery. She married Virgil F. Petty on December 25, 1936 and he preceded her in death. She was a charter member of the Willow Street Church of Christ, which is now Cornerstone Christian Church. She loved children and taught bible school for over 32 years while at the church. Beulah worked as a part-time cook for Unit 40 for 12 years and was also a lifelong member of the Ladies Home Extension Group.
She is survived by her daughter: Joyce Heuerman (the late, Floyd) of Effingham. Brothers; Forrest Kingery, Dallas Kingery (Hazel) and sister; Virginia Fulk all of Effingham.
Beulah was preceded in death by her parents, husband Virgil Frederick, and daughter Sharon Habing. Brothers; Noble Kingery and Vernon Kingery. sisters; Reba Hinker, Bernice Donaldson, and Barbara Shadley.
Beulah was a loving grandmother to 7 grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren, and 5 great-great-grandchildren.
She was an avid gardner and loved growing flowering plants, especially roses and African violets, which were her favorites.
