Clarice G. Probst, 80, of rural Effingham passed away Thursday, September 23, 2021 at HSHS St. John's Hospital in Springfield.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, September 29, 2021 at St. Aloysius Catholic Church, Bishop Creek, with burial in the church cemetery. Visitation will be held from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. Tuesday at the church. Memorial donations may be given to the charity of the donor's choice. Arrangements are in the care of Bauer Funeral Home in Effingham.

Clarice was born June 19, 1941 in Jasper County, the daughter of the late Allie and Agnes (Kinkelaar) Bierman. She married Melvin M. Probst on April 15, 1961. Clarice was a long time member of St. Aloysius Catholic Church of Bishop Creek. She enjoyed doing crafts and did a lot of baking. Clarice loved her grandkids and great-grandkids dearly and spending time with her family and friends.

Clarice is survived by her husband of 60 years, Melvin of Effingham; children, Brenda (Todd) Weishaar of Island Grove, Cheryl (Marty) Zacha of Dieterich, Michael of Effingham, Gail (Duane) Brandt of Shumway and Jason (Stacey) of Watson; 12 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren; brother, Glen Bierman of Island Grove; sister, Loretta Uthell of Teutopolis and sister-in-law, Marcella Bierman of Dieterich.

She was preceded in death by her parents; brother, Arthur “Jim” Bierman; sisters, Lucille Probst and infant sister, Stella; sister-in-law, Marlene Bierman and brother-in-law, Melvin Uthell of Teutopolis.
