Neola I. Hill, age 97, of Newton formerly of Dundas passed away Thursday, September 16, 2021 at her home in the Villas of Hollybrook, Newton, Illinois.

Services honoring Neola’s life will be held on Friday, September 24, 2021 at 10:00 a.m. in the chapel of Crest Haven Memorial Park, Olney, Illinois. Visitation will be held from 9:00 am until time of service Friday in the chapel. Interment will be in the Crest Haven Memorial Park, Olney, Illinois.

Neola was born on December 30, 1923 in Dundas, Illinois the daughter of Rollie and Rosetta (Mitchell) Combs. On June 29, 1946, Neola married the love of her life, Wilmer “Wayne” Hill. They shared 61 and ½ years together until his passing on November 24, 2007. Neola spent her life as a wife, mother and homemaker. Neola and Wayne were active members of the First United Methodist Church in Olney. Following Wayne’s retirement, the couple spent a year volunteering at the McCurdy School in New Mexico. Later, they spent many springs volunteering at the Red Bird Mission in the Appalachian Mountains of Kentucky. After moving to Newton, Neola and Wayne became active at the Grace United Methodist Church in Newton. There, Neola took part in the United Methodist Woman and weekly Bible studies. In her free time, Neola enjoyed reading, knitting and crochet. Gardening, canning, quilting and camping were activities Neola and Wayne enjoyed together. Through the years, Neola and Wayne were able to visit all fifty states. They traveled to Europe, visiting the places Wayne served during WWII. Neola loved being a grandmother to her 5 grandchildren and 9 greatgrandchildren and spending time with her family.

Neola will be loved and remembered by her son Bruce Hill and wife Debbie of Newton; daughter Cecelia O’Donnell and husband Terry of New Preston, Connecticut; grandchildren Megan Steffen and husband Erik of Newton; Tanya Jablon and husband Marc of Winter Garden, FL; Reni Snider and husband Ed of Orlando, FL; Adrean Hill of Newton and Barrett Hill and wife Brooke of Ste. Marie; great-grandchildren Tristen Boldrey, Madelynne Boldrey, Kada Jablon, Adam Jablon, Sienna Snider, Lillian Steffen, Lincoln Snider, Briar Hill, Bradlie Hill and baby Hill due to arrive in February.

Her parents, husband Wayne, brother and sister-in-law Kenneth and Verna Combs and brotherin-law and sister-in-law Carroll and Belvin Hill preceded her in death.
