Stephen Sauers passed away on Monday, September 6, 2021 in Naples, Florida at the age of 80 surrounded by his wife and daughters.

Steve was born in Springfield, IL. He was the son of Kenneth and Dorothy Sauers.

He was preceded in death by his parents, brother (Ken), and his Uncle Bob.

He is survived by his wife Diane and daughters Kara (Kevin) Cox, Stephanie Sparks, Gail Sauers and four grandchildren Andrew, Anna, Zoe, and Zachary.

Steve attended Tri City Schools and graduated in 1959. He attended University of Illinois from 1959 to 1966 where he graduated with a degree of Doctor of Veterinary Medicine cum laude. Steve was a member of Acacia Fraternity. Steve established Effingham Veterinary Clinic in 1969, retiring in 2004. He married his wife Diane in 1983 and in 2004, they relocated to Naples, Florida. Steve served as a board member of Illinois Veterinary Medical Association for 5 years, one year as Chairman. Steve was a Board Member of Washington Savings Bank for 32 years. He was instrumental in developing PSI Veterinary Software Program, now known as Cornerstone. Steve loved to travel and enjoyed playing golf and bridge with family and friends.

A private celebration of life will be in Springfield, Illinois, at a later date. In lieu of flowers his family would ask you to make a donation in his name to the American Lung Association, St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital or a charity of your choice.
