Judith E. ‘Judy’ Vogel, 76, of Altamont, died peacefully at 12:10 p.m. Sunday, September 12, 2021 at HSHS St. John’s Hospital, Springfield after a three year battle with cancer.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10 a.m. on Friday, September 17, 2021 at St. Clare Catholic Church, Altamont with Rev. T. Joseph Havrilka officiating. Burial will follow at St. Clare Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 5-7 on Thursday, September 16, 2021 at Gieseking Funeral Home. Memorials may be made to St. Clare Cemetery, Meals on Wheels or the Donor’s Choice. CDC and IDPH guidelines with regard to COVID-19 must be followed. This includes but is not limited to face covering and social distancing.

Judy was born on Sunday, July 1, 1945 in to James and Elise (Harlan) Weaver. She married Robert ‘Bob’ Vogel on August 4, 1964 at St. Clare Catholic Church. Judy was a people person and made many friends through her employment at Boggs Oil Service, DJ’s Café in St. Elmo, Stuemke’s Marathon, and S&W Supermarket from which she retired in 2020. Judy was active with the St. Clare Altar Society, working dinners and making dishes to share. She always donated her time and effort in helping others. Despite her ongoing battle with cancer, she was more concerned with how others were doing rather than sharing her struggle.

In addition to her husband of over fifty years, she is survived by; her son, Randy (Jerri) Vogel, Springfield, IL; daughter, Sheila (Mike) Boarman, Pawnee, IL; and four grandchildren, Travis Vogel, Megan (fiancé Brad Stevens) Boarman, Tyler Vogel and Chad Boarman. She was and will continue to be her grandkids’ greatest supporter.

She was preceded in death by her parents.
