Alice Loretta “Babe” Funneman, 84, passed away Tuesday, April 13, 2021 at her home in Teutopolis.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 a.m. Thursday, April 15, 2021 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Effingham with burial in St. Francis Cemetery in Teutopolis. Visitation will be held from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. Wednesday evening at Bauer Funeral Home in Effingham. Memorial donations may be given to HSHS Hospice.

Babe was born September 23, 1936 in Effingham, the daughter of Frank and Margaret (McMahon) Donaldson. She married Ralph B. Funneman on June 30, 1956 and he preceded her in death in 1988. Babe worked at a number of factories in the area and retired after 27 years from Fedders in Effingham. She was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Effingham.

Babe is survived by her sons, Bart (Angie) Funneman of Moweaqua, Dr. Rick (Theresa) Funneman of Smithboro and Todd (Tara) Funneman of Teutopolis; daughters, Teresa (Steve) Gillum and Jane (Steve) Turner, both of Effingham; eleven grandchildren and eleven great-grandchildren.

Babe was preceded in death by her parents; husband and siblings, Frank Donaldson, Joe Donaldson, Marge Blankenship, Catherine Kortte, Robert Donaldson, Josephine Chisler, Rosemary Hawkins, Shirley Goldstein and two infant siblings.

Babe’s family would like to give a special thanks to Annette Wendling for the compassionate care she gave to their mother.
