Leroy Eugene Eubank, age 85, of Flat Rock, Illinois, and formerly of Willow Hill, Illinois, passed away Saturday, March 27, 2021, at Cotillion Ridge in Robinson, Illinois.

Funeral services celebrating Leroy’s life will be held at 10:30 AM Thursday, April 1, 2021, at the Meyer Funeral Home in Newton, Illinois, with Phil Boyd officiating. Burial will be in the Mound Cemetery in rural Hunt City, Illinois, with full military rites. Visitation will be held 5:00-7:00 PM Wednesday, March 31, 2021, at the funeral home. Leroy was born on July 8, 1935, in a road ditch south of Willow Hill, Illinois, the son of Ernest and Stella Mae (Hills) Eubank. He married Julia Maxine Friesner on January 1, 1958, on a street corner in Kankakee, Illinois, and she preceded him in death on August 2, 1986. Leroy had been a farmer, heavy equipment operator with Operating Engineers Local #841 and also had served as the road commissioner of Willow Hill Township. Leroy served his country in the United States Army, and was a member of the Robinson VFW Post #4549. Leroy enjoyed going to horse races and also owned and trained thoroughbred horses over the years. He was an avid Illini and St. Louis Cardinals fan. Leroy collected and restored antique tractors and equipment, and was a member of the Jasper County and Oblong Antique Tractor Clubs. Leroy enjoyed traveling, attending his children and grandchildren’s sporting events, and visiting with family and friends and sharing stories.

Leroy is survived by: Children – Bruce Eubank of Willow Hill, Illinois; Brian (Cyndi) Eubank of Willow Hill, Illinois and Myra (Mike) Perkins of Gibson City, Illinois; Grandchildren – Seirra (Dustin) Forristall, Morgan Perkins (fiancé Kyle Welborn), Logan (Alisha) Eubank and Ross (Morgan) Perkins; Great Grandchildren – Emma Forristall, Brock Forristall, Zoey Eubank, Bryleigh Eubank and Riggs Perkins; Brother – Bob Nielson of Gainesville, Florida; Special Friend and Companion – Carolyn Wooton.

Leroy was preceded in death by his parents, wife, brother Harold Eubank, sisters Naomi Gifford and Theoria Ireland.
