Norman “Norm” Gene McManaway, age 81, of Edgewood, Illinois passed away at 9:04 a.m. Monday, March 22, 2021 at his home, surrounded by his family.

There will be a Celebration of Life from 2-5 p.m. May 1, 2021 at the Edgewood American Legion. Memorials may go to Crossroads Cancer Center or Effingham Humane Society or the donor’s choice. Online condolences may be expressed by clicking here

Norman was born on December 19, 1939 in Effingham County, Illinois, the son of Marvin and Mary Elizabeth (Habing) McManaway. He married Elizabeth Quast, to this union, four children were born. He later married Deb McManaway on April 19, 1991 in Altamont, Illinois. He was a member of the LaClede Church of the Nazarene, where he was trustee. He was on the Iola Board of Trustees. He loved gardening, his 5 fur babies and Mr. Harry, mowing the lawn, and spending time with his friends and family. Norman was an avid Chicago Cubs fan.

He is survived by his wife, Deb McManaway of Edgewood, Illinois; sons, Chuck McManaway of Chicago, Illinois and Mike McManaway (wife Jeanne) of Chicago, Illinois; daughters, Susan Kutemeier of Chicago, Illinois and Donna Griffel of Chicago, Illinois; stepson, Lonnie Cook Jr. (wife Jana) of Windsor, Illinois; stepdaughter, Shelly Verdeyen (husband Pudd) of Effingham, Illinois; 12 grandchildren, Whitney, Stacey, Kyle, Skyler, Ethan, Emalee, Elizabeth, Samantha, Haley, Hunter, Becky, Laine and 18 great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by parents, Marvin and Mary McManaway; brothers, Ofis McManaway, Leonard McManaway, and Cletus McManaway; sisters, Patricia Hudson and Mary Louise Clarkson.
