Marie Louise Sparling, 81, of Ingraham, passed away at 5:22 pm Sunday, March 21, 2021 at HSHS St. Anthony’s Memorial Hospital, in Effingham.

Marie was born March 7, 1940 in Greenfield, IN to Mary Virginia Oakley and James Stanley. She married Cecil Milton Sparling June 12, 1956. She spent her life caring for family and enjoyed antiquing, crocheting, feeding her hummingbirds, and spoiling her grandchildren.

Marie is survived by her children: Brenda (Ralph) Workman of Ingraham, IL and Cecil “Bud” Sparling Jr. of Effingham, IL; grandchildren: April (Matt) Atkins of Troy, IL, Scott (Alisha) Workman of Charleston, IL, Kayla (Jake) Kuhl of Ingraham, IL and Cas Sparling of Effingham, IL and 8 great-grandchildren. Marie is also survived by her sisters Mary Beth Shoemaker of Effingham, IL, Peggy Spracklen of Pekin, IL, Teddie Knox of Lubbock, TX, Pat Thompson of Iola, IL and brother Michael Poe of Altamont, IL.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Cecil Sparling Sr. and sisters: Gloria Goodman, Marilyn Feldhake, Shirley Stanley, and Bonita Kuhlman. Like a hummingbird, you were a beautiful spirit, resilient, quick-witted, and independent. May the wings of the hummingbird guide you on your final journey home. It was Marie’s wishes for cremation and no services will be held, and memorials can be made to donor’s choice, the Salvation Army, or the Headyville Cemetery.
