Evadine B. Goers (86) of St. Elmo

Evadine Goers, 86, of St. Elmo, died at 12:58 p.m. Thursday, March 18, 2021 at HSHS St. Anthony’s Memorial Hospital, Effingham, as the result of injuries sustained in a motor vehicle accident.

Funeral services will be at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, March 27, 2021 at Bethlehem Lutheran Church, rural Altamont with Rev. Marcus Manley officiating. Burial will follow at Bethlehem Cemetery. Visitation will be from 9:00 a.m. until service time at the Bethlehem Fellowship Hall. Memorials may be made to the Bethlehem Choir or the donor’s choice. Gieseking Funeral Home, Altamont is assisting the family with arrangements.

Evadine Bernice Goers was born on Monday, August 27, 1934 in rural Altamont, IL to Samuel and Hilda (Brauer) Yagow. She married Edgar Voelker on May 11, 1969 and they enjoyed 24 years of marriage prior to his death on November 12, 1993. She then married Eugene Goers on August 22, 2009. She was a member of Bethlehem Lutheran Church, Altamont where she was active with the church choir and a long-time member of the Ladies Aid and LWML. In Illinois and California for many years she worked as a hairdresser and was an avid gardener. Upon returning to Altamont, she enjoyed her involvement with the Altamont Community Choir.

She is survived by her husband, Eugene Goers of Altamont; son, David Voelker and his wife Nawel of South San Francisco, California; stepsons, Brad Goers of St. Elmo, Brent Goers of Wisconsin, and Tom Goers of Ohio, stepdaughters, Susan Hammond of Ohio and Laura Basden of Oklahoma; grandchildren, Caleb Voelker, Abigail Voelker and Miranda Madrid, all of South San Francisco, California; and nieces, Karen Stuemke and her husband, Mel of St. Elmo, Deb and Steve Worland of New Albany, IN, Robin and Rob Klima of Manchester, Iowa, and Jeanie Yagow of Beecher City.

Evadine was preceded in death by her parents; husband; brother, Samuel (Dottie) Yagow; and nephew, Paul Yagow.
