Michele Y. Whitlatch, 57, of Lakewood, IL passed away at 8:50 a.m. on Friday, March 19, 2021 in HSHS Good Shepherd Hospital in Shelbyville, IL with loved ones by her side.

Michele was born on November 22, 1963, the daughter of David and Mary (Sutton) Gaston. She was a graduate of Shelbyville High School in the Class of 1981. Michele and Michael D. Whitlatch were united in holy matrimony on August 6, 1992 and were blessed with 28 years of marriage. Michele enjoyed hitting the road with Michael in the semi, taking in the sights throughout the United States. She treasured family time, especially with her grandchildren, whether it was time on the lake, camping or just chilling together. She also enjoyed sewing, knitting and collecting coins. Michele was a loving and attentive wife, a deeply devoted mom and grandmother, a caring and loyal daughter, sister, aunt and friend. She will be deeply missed and forever remembered by her family and friends.

She leaves behind her mother, Mary Gaston of Lakewood; husband, Michael Whitlatch of Lakewood; daughter, Felisha Sickles of Shelbyville; son, Jeremy Sickles of Lakewood; grandchildren: Jaydon and Anthony Norfleet, Aleigha Edwards, Aiyana, Lenore and Maggie Sickles; sisters: Kim (Lyndell) Brewer of Lakewood and Nadine Schnell of Lakewood and many nieces and nephews.

Michele was preceded in death by her father, David Gaston and two grandchildren: Akeelah Norfleet and Thomas Martin.

Visitation will be held from 10:00-11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, March 23, 2021 at Lockart-Green Funeral Home in Shelbyville followed by the funeral service at 11:00 a.m. with Reverend Tim Yankee officiating. Burial will take place in Glenwood Cemetery. Memorials may be made in Michele’s name to the donor’s favorite charity and mailed to Lockart-Green Funeral Home, %Michele Whitlatch, 302 W. Main St., Shelbyville, IL 62565.
