Jeffrey Allen “Jose” Jay, 59, of Findlay, IL passed away on Sunday, February 28, 2021 at home surrounded by his loving family.

Jose was born on April 28, 1961, in Decatur, the son of Arthur and Sonya (Sieh) Jay. He was a 1979 graduate of Findlay High School. He then enlisted in the United States Navy before returning home to complete his education at Lake Land Community College in Mattoon where he received his associate degree. Jose worked for Larry Knierim as a farm hand for several years. He was an outstanding cook and loved working on tractors, especially his beloved Oliver Super 88 that he restored.

Surviving are his parents, Arthur and Sonya Jay of Findlay; sister, Michelle (Donnie) Stroud of Mattoon; three nieces, Savannah (Bert) Jeralds of Goreville, Tiffany (Dane) Rinne of St. Louis, MO and Justina (Seth) Sturgill of Goreville; one great nephew, Braiden Connor of Goreville and many friends. Jose will be laid to rest with his best buddy, Mutt.

Graveside services will be held at 3:00 p.m. on Thursday, March 4, 2021 at Wright Cemetery in Findlay with Pastor Mike Reynolds officiating. Memorials may be made in Jose’s name to Faith Covenant Church of Findlay or Relay for Life of Shelby County and mailed to Lockart-Green Funeral Home, %Jose Jay, 302 W. Main St., Shelbyville, IL 62565. Lockart-Green Funeral Home in Findlay is assisting the family.
