Louise E. Tegeler, 90 of Effingham, passed away Monday, March 1, 2021 at Lakeland Rehabilitation and Health Care Center in Effingham.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held privately at St. Mary Help of Christians Catholic Church, Green Creek, with burial in the church cemetery. Memorial donations may be given to Lincolnland Hospice.

Louise was born May 31, 1930 in Effingham, the daughter of John and Mary Ann (Huelsbusch) Hoffman. She married Joseph A. Tegeler on July 19, 1950 and he preceded her in death in 2004. Louise was a member of St. Mary Help of Christians Catholic Church in Green Creek. She enjoyed spending time with her family, playing bingo with friends and had a love for dogs.

Louise is survived by her sons, Kenneth (special friend, Carol) of Dieterich, Vernon (Elaine) of Teutopolis, Thomas (Lana) of Gillette, WY, Richard (Marianne) of Teutopolis, Donald of Cincinatti, OH, David (Dianna) of Teutopolis, Charles (Paula) of Effingham and Steven (Lisa) of Watson; daughters, Pat (Steve) Austin of Effingham, Sharon (Tom) Tebbe of Effingham and Judy (Rex) Williams of Shumway; 24 grandchildren and 30 great-grandchildren.

Louise was preceded in death by her parents; husband; infant son, John; brother, Clem (Elizabeth) Hoffman and daughter-in-law, Janet.

The family would like to thank Lakeland Rehabilitation and Health Care Center staff, 6th floor staff at HSHS St. Anthony Memorial Hospital, Dr. Bloemer, Dr. Merkel and Lincolnland Hospice staff for all the excellent care provided for Mom. Also, special thanks to Fr. Ery and Sr. Pat for their spiritual support.
