Charles A. Stiffler, 71, of Mattoon, Illinois, formerly of Effingham, passed away at 11 a.m. Wednesday, March 27, 2013 at Palm Terrace of Mattoon.

Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday, March 30 at Bauer Funeral Home in Effingham with Pastor David McConnell offficiating. Burial will take place in Woodlawn Cemetery, Effingham. Visitation will be held from 11 a.m. to time of service Saturday at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to the donor's choice. www.bauerfh.com.

Charles was born June 4, 1941 in Vandalia, the son of Leon and Lela (Wright) Stiffler. He was a member of the United States Army and served for two years during the Vietnam War. Charles also was a member of United Pentecostal Church in Neoga.

Charles is survived by his brother, Vernon Stiffler of Effingham; sisters, Wanda McCoy of Effingham, Elaine (husband Dwayne) Phelan of Prairie Grove, Ark., Anita Cowger of Effingham, Vicki Stout of Effingham, Linda (husband Dave) Wolf of Altamont, Sharon Stiffler of Effingham and Barbara (husband Dwayne) Vanatta of Greenup and several nieces and nephews.

Charles was preceded in death by his parents; two infant sons; two infant daughters; two brothers, David and Larry; brother-in-law, Kenny McCoy and sister-in-law, Joyce Stiffler.
