Earl Pemberton, 71, of Brownstown, died at 11:15 p.m. Tuesday, February 23, 2021 at Aperion Care, St. Elmo.

A funeral service will be held at 3 p.m. on Saturday, February 27, 2021 at the First Christian Church, Brownstown with Reverend Nathan Brands officiating. Burial will follow at Griffith Cemetery, Brownstown. Visitation will be for two hours prior to service time. Memorials may be made to the First Christian Church Building Fund. Gieseking Funeral Home, Brownstown is assisting the family with arrangements.

COVID-19 protocol including but not limited to face covering and social distancing will be required.

Earl Len Pemberton was born on Wednesday, May 18, 1949 in Flora to Roy and Betty (Porter) Pemberton. He married Marcia K. Beck on July 23, 1990. He was a member of the First Christian Church, Brownstown. He was employed by the Illinois Department of Corrections at the Vandalia Correctional Center. He enjoyed quail and coon hunting, fishing, triathalons and 5 K runs, harness racing and biking.  In addition, Earl enjoyed refereeing basketball and baseball.

He is survived by his wife of over 30 years; step-daughter, Tiffany Whitten, Fairview Heights; sister, Diana Pemberton, Flora; 2 grandchildren, Brett (Terra) Pruett and Blake Pruett; 2 great-grandchildren, Isaac and Alyza Pruett.

He was preceded in death by his parents and brother Lowell Pemberton.
