Thomas Ray "Tom" Shamhart (65) of Wheeler, Illinois passed away at 6:05 p.m. Monday, February 22, 2021 at HSHS St. Anthony's Memorial Hospital in Effingham, Illinois.

Funeral services celebrating Tom's life will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, February 26 at the Meyer Funeral Home in Dieterich with Fr. Dean Probst officiating. Burial will be in the Bailey Cemetery, west of Latona. Visitation will be held one hour before the service. In loving memory of Tom, memorials may be made to the St. Thomas School. Thomas Ray, better known as Tom, was born December 4, 1955 in Effingham, the son of Harold and Georgiana (Bridges) Shamhart. He was united in marriage to Rebecca Dallmier June 26, 1976 at St. Mary of the Assumption Catholic Church in Sainte Marie. Tom was a lifelong farmer who appreciated caring for God's good earth. He was a member of the Dogtown Tractor Club and collected Massey Harris tractors. Tom enjoyed fishing, woodworking and antique cars. He was always willing to lend a hand to those in need and loved to help neighbors. He liked to keep busy tinkering and could fix anything.

Tom is survived by his wife of 44 years, Becky Shamhart of Wheeler, children, Kevin (Amanda) Shamhart of Watson, Brian (Jamie) Shamhart of Wheeler, Kimberly Shamhart (Aaron Mason) of Newton, Vincent (Katelyn) Shamhart of Champaign and Craig (Beth) Shamhart of Dieterich; grandchildren, Shayne (Aubrie) Goldman of Pana, Nicholas Shamhart, Katie Shamhart and Michael Shamhart of Wheeler, Hayden Shamhart Williams, Karic Mason and Vayda Mason of Newton, Annabelle Shamhart, Caroline Shamhart, both of Champaign and Addison Shamhart and Avery Shamhart of Dieterich; siblings, John Shamhart of Wheeler, Sharon (Norma) Bergbower of Newton and Barbara (Joe) Schuch of Newton; several nieces, nephews, cousins and special friends.

Tom was preceded in death by his parents and father and mother-in-law Lorraine and Lucille  Dallmier.
