Alberta Adele (Wernle) Williams-Kampwerth, age 98 of Greenville passed away at 5:00 p.m. Saturday January 9, 2021 at Hillsboro Area Hospital.

Alberta Wernle, was born on July 1, 1922 to Edwin Fred Wernle and Erma Irene (Smith) Wernle, in Bond County. Alberta, the oldest of eight children, grew up in Greenville. Alberta and Louis “Buck” Allen Williams were united in marriage on December 10, 1938 and enjoyed 31 years together before Louis’s passing on November 26, 1969. They are the parents of Sherron Breehne of Naples, FL; Donald (Diane) Williams of West LaFayette, IN; Kay Wilson of Rock Hill, SC; Gay (Terry) Adcock of Greenville; Tina (David) Petty of Lincoln, IL; and Robert (Jackie) Williams of Greenville. Alberta later married Urban Kampwerth of Carlyle, IL on March 28, 1992. Together they enjoyed dancing, camping, gardening and traveling until his death in October 2006.

In her early years, Alberta worked in Greenville, IL at DeMoulin Brothers, Childs World at First Christian Church, then established her own daycare service in her home before retiring. She valued all her years spent caring and loving all her “babysitting kids”. Alberta also dedicated numerous hours to the First Christian Church serving as a Sunday school teacher, weekly telephoner for the Nursery, head of the kitchen committee, singing in the choir and served as Superintendent of the Middler Dept amongst other various tasks as needed. She was later a member of Carlyle Christian Church and also enjoyed going to the casinos, word search puzzles and singing hymns.

Alberta was also blessed with 13 grandchildren: Karl Breehne, Patrice (Breehne) Dalton; Ronald (Jeanne) Williams, Caroline (Brent) Johnson, Stephanie (Mark) Need; Kimberly (David) Thorson, Kellee (John) Widman, Joe (Abby) Wilson Jr., Jamie (Jeff) Swift, Jennifer (Blake) Olliges, Jacque’ (Trevis) Stallard and Jessica Adcock; along with 30 great-grandchildren and 4 great great-grandchildren. Alberta is also survived by her sister Evelyn Wylie of Greenville, brother Jerry (Deborah) Wernle of Cape Coral, FL, sister-in-law Rose Wernle of Greenville and brother-in-law Calvin “Corky” McCorkle of Ft. Loramine, OH.

Alberta was preceded in death by her son, Ronald Williams in infancy, parents, siblings/in-laws: Kathryn (Nick) Boudouris, Cleta (Ray) Baldwin, Neta McCorkle, Edwin Wernle, and William (Patricia) Wernle; son-in-laws: James Basso, Paul Breehne Sr. and Joe “Butch” Wilson, Sr.; grandchild: Paul Breehne Jr.; and great-grandchild: Matthew Breehne.

Arrangements are as follows: Thursday, January 14, 2021 viewing from noon to 1:30pm at Donnell-Wiegand Funeral Home with graveside services to be held at 2:00 pm at Mt. Auburn Cemetery with Darryl Bolen officiating. COVID restrictions will apply including social distancing, capacity limits and masks are required. A celebration of life to be scheduled at a later date.

Memorials can be made to the Carlyle Christian Church or to Mt. Auburn Cemetery in Greenville during the viewing or at DonnellWiegand Funeral Home in Greenville.
