LaVerne McMullen, 74, of Shelbyville, Illinois, unexpectedly passed away Sunday, January 3, 2021 in Mattoon, Illinois.
She was born January 11, 1946 in Oakland, California, the daughter of Roger and Hattie (Hoit) White. LaVerne married Larry McMullen on November 30, 1968 in Mattoon, Illinois. She was a homemaker when her children were school-age and then later worked as a cake decorator for several area bakeries. LaVerne loved gardening, sewing, crafting, and spending time with her family and friends. She was a devoted mother and grandmother and put others needs before her own.
LaVerne leaves behind her husband, Larry McMullen of Shelbyville, Illinois; and their two children, Michelle McMullen and R. Todd Bacon of La Grange, Illinois and grandchildren Hayden Elizabeth Tack (age 12), Logan Tack (age 9), Clayton Bacon (age 4). Brad and Nancy McMullen of Riverside, Illinois and granddaughter Olivia McMullen (age 8); sister, LaRayne Clodfelder and niece, Cynthia Temple and husband Bill of Mattoon, Illinois.
She was preceded in death by her Parents and brother, Robert E. White.

Because of the COVID pandemic there will be a private family service on Thursday, January 7, 2021 at 11:00 AM in the Swengel - O’Dell Funeral Home of Neoga, Illinois. Visitation will be January 7, 2021 from 9:30 AM until service time at the funeral home. Burial will be in the Roselawn Cemetery in Charleston, Illinois
