Gregory James “Greg” Yocum, 62, of Effingham, IL, died on Monday, January 4, 2021 at HSHS St. Anthony’s Memorial Hospital in Effingham.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 a.m. Monday, January 11, 2021 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Effingham, IL. Burial will be in Loy Chapel Cemetery in rural Effingham. Arrangements are in the care of Johnson Funeral Home in Effingham.

Gregory was born on December 5, 1958, in Effingham, IL, the son of Robert Donald and Rita Marie (Loy) Yocum. Greg graduated from Effingham High School in 1977. In his early years, he worked for Keller Oil at Loy Shell and Southtown Shell. He started his career at World Color Press in Effingham, then later worked at the Salem plant. After the Salem plant closed, he went to work at Quad Graphics in Effingham. He then finished his work career at Speedco in Effingham. Greg enjoyed working on cars, and going to drag races and car shows. He also enjoyed fishing with this family and friends, but he truly enjoyed spending time with his little great nieces and nephews.

Survivors include his mother, Rita Yocum of Effingham; brothers, Phillip (Tonya) Yocum of Mason, David (Gail) Yocum of Granville, Mike Yocum of Effingham, and Todd (Vicki) Yocum of Edgewood; sister, Kathleen (Shane) Smith of Edgewood; and many nieces and nephews.

Greg was preceded in death by his father, Robert Yocum; infant sister, Nancy Yocum; niece, Shanna Yocum; and grandparents, Ralph and Caroline Loy, and John and Mable Yocum.
