Agnes Catherine (Grunloh) Brummer,102, of rural Dieterich passed away at 12:04 pm Sunday, January 3, 2021.

Agnes was born June 15, 1918 in Green Creek, the daughter of John J & Elizabeth (Schumacher) Grunloh. She married Cletus A Brummer on October 5th, 1940. He preceded her in death on June 13th, 2012. Agnes was an avid pinochle player. She loved cooking meals for her family & guests. Agnes sewed hundreds of quilts for her children, grandchildren, great grandchildren and many others. She was active in the Right to Life movement, a member of the Third Order Franciscans and parish CCW. She was the President of the Effingham Deanery & Springfield Diocesan Council of Catholic Women. She was a faithful supporter of seminarians, priests & missions.

She is survived by children Richard (Maureen McLean), Eugene (Ruth Waldhoff), Mary Thoele (Mike), Alice Drees (Gene), Martha Fearday (Mike), Herman (Sharon Bergfeld), Anthony (Judy Swingler), Margaret Bierman (Mark), Phyllis Jansen (Bill), Francis (Cathy Pruemer) and Lynne McWhorter (Greg); Son in law Tom Fearday (Joyce Worman); 60 grandchildren, 171 great grandchildren, 9 step great grandchildren, 3 great great grandchildren and many nieces & nephews.

Agnes was preceded in death by her husband, parents, daughter Rita Fearday, grandson Rick Brummer, grandson in law Brian Miller, great grandchild Lily Miller, 3 brothers Andrew, Fr Donatus & Fr Melvin, 2 sisters, Cecelia Sandschafer & Sr Marie, brothers and sisters in law, Ben & Florence Pruemer, Dorothy Pruemer, Emma Brummer, Albert & Dorothy Deters, Albert & Gertrude Goeckner, Sylv & Helen Beckman, infant Marie Brummer, Ray & Pauline Brummer, Leonard & Dorothy Brummer, Beulah Brummer, Eddie & Anna Mae Jansen.

Funeral services will be held at 10:30 am on Wednesday January 6th at St Aloysius Church, Bishop Creek, with burial in the church cemetery. Visitation will be held Tuesday, January 5th from 4-6:30 pm with a 6:30 rosary and sharing. At Agnes’s request, in lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Missions, Franciscan Family Apostolate or seminary fund.
