Lucille Painter, age 94, of Mason, Illinois passed away at 12:50 a.m. Thursday, December 31, 2020 at her home in Mason, Illinois. 

There will be a public walk-through viewing from 9:00 to 10:00 Tuesday, January 5, 2021 at Pagel Funeral Homes in Edgewood, Illinois. There will be a private family funeral to follow. Mark White and Herman Painter Jr will be officiating. Burial will be at Old Union Cemetery in Clay County, Illinois. Memorials may go to Mason Christian Church or the donor’s choice. Lucille was born on August 29, 1926 in Clay County, Illinois, the daughter of Herman and Effie (Basford) Murphy. She married Clarence Daniel Painter on February 7, 1946 in Effingham, Illinois. She enjoyed gardening, sewing, cooking, and spending time with her family and friends. She loved going to Branson to visit and go to the shows. She also worked at Fedders for several years and was the last of 11 children. 

She is survived by her son, Gary Painter (wife Glenda) of Effingham, Illinois; 5 grandchildren, Ronnie Peterson of Champaign, Illinois, Dawnette Rhodes of Effingham, Illinois, Shelly McElroy (husband Bob) Kinmundy, Illinois, Dale Peterson (wife Susan) of Mansfield, Illinois, Dary Painter of Altamont, Illinois and several great-grandchildren; niece and special caregiver, Joyce Feldhake of Mason, Illinois. 

She was preceded in death by her parents, Herman and Effie Murphy; husband, Clarence Painter; daughter, Carolyn Peterson; 7 brothers; and 3 sisters.
