Shirley Joan (Cummins) Worthey, 85, of Newton, Illinois, passed away at 5:56 p.m. Monday, October 26, 2020 at Newton Care Center in Newton, Illinois.
Private family services will be held, with burial in the Westlawn Memorial Park Cemetery in Newton. In loving memory of Shirley, memorials may be made to the First Baptist Church in Newton. Shirley was born August 15, 1935, in Lawrenceville, Illinois the daughter of Carrie McClaskey. She married Harold Wilson Worthey March 21, 1953, in Lawrenceville. Shirley retired from E. R. Moore in Newton, after many years of service. She was a member of the First Baptist Church in Newton. Shirley enjoyed doing crafts, crocheting and embordering. She loved to spend time with her family especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Shirley is survived by her husband of 67 years, Harold Worthey of Newtob; sons, Steve (Cindy) Worthey of Mattoon and Ed Worthey (Cindy Utley) of Newton; grandchildren, Dana (Gary) Adams of Iola, Illinois, Amy (Travis) Tarr of Newton and Sarah (Brad) Horner of Dundas, Illinois; great-grandchildren, Jayde, Reese, Maya, Marshall, Meyer, Marlee, Cole, Maddox and Maverik
Shirley was preceded in death by her mother.
