Paul R. Dust, 87, passed away at 2:08 a.m. Tuesday, May 29, 2012 at his home in Effingham, Illinois.

Funeral services will be held at noon Thursday, May 31 at St. Anthony of Padua Catholic Church in Effingham with burial in St. Anthony Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 5-7 p.m. Wednesday at Bauer Funeral Home in Effingham. Memorials may be made to Catholic Charities.

Paul was born February 17, 1925 in Effingham, the son of Rudolph and Theresa (Heuerman) Dust. He married Elizabeth Ann (Smythe) May 29, 1948 and she survives. Paul was a member of St. Anthony of Padua Catholic Church in Effingham and the Effingham Knights of Columbus Council #665. He also served with the U.S. Navy during World War II on U.S.S. Chaffee, a destroyer escort.

Paul is survived by his wife, Elizabeth of Effingham; three sons, Dr. Eugene (wife Linda) Dust of Effingham, Dr. Duane (wife Barbara) Dust of Philo and Dr. Glen (wife Janese) Dust of Sullivan; daughter, Eileen Dust of St. Louis Mo.; sister, Rose Hawickhorst of Teutopolis and 11 grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Bernard and John Dust and three sisters, Catherine Fuesting, Teresa Petty and Della Blom.
