Dennis Brian Epperson age 59 of Charleston, Illinois passed away Wednesday, September 16, 2020 at Sarah Bush Lincoln Health Care Center, Mattoon, Illinois.

Funeral services celebrating Dennis’ life will be held at 10:00 a.m. Monday, September 21, 2020 at Schilling Funeral Home, Mattoon with Pastor Brad Brown officiating. Visitation will be from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. Sunday. Graveside services will be held at 1:00 p.m. Monday, September 21, 2020 at Woodlawn Cemetery, Effingham, Illinois. Memorial Donations in honor of Dennis may be made to the Donor’s Choice.

Dennis was born March 7, 1961, in Mattoon, Illinois the son of Hobert Joseph and Mertie Irma (Atchley) Epperson. Through the years, Dennis worked for Stevens Industries, Petty Printing, and later was lead pressman at R.R. Donnelley. Dennis had many interests including fishing, operating radio controlled drones, planes, cars and watching the Andy Griffith Show. He loved classic Rock n Roll, spending time jamming and singing with friends. He enjoyed classic cars, motorcycles and attending car shows. He loved basset hounds, especially his Buster and Otis. His greatest love was his girls Katie and Rachel. Described as a devoted and loving father, Dennis always offered his unconditional love to his family and friends. While being loving, generous and caring, Dennis was also a fun loving prankster. He had a big smile, a big laugh, and big heart.

Dennis will be loved and remembered by his daughters Katlyn “Katie” Epperson, boyfriend Chad Thilker and his daughter MacKenzie of Effingham, Rachel Epperson, partner Brandi Pearson of Benton, Kentucky and a granddaughter coming in February who Dennis was so excited to meet. His siblings, Sharon (Russ) Hayes of Mattoon, Janice (Jay) Dotson-Oliver of Mattoon, Brenda Post of Mattoon, Joe (Sherri) Epperson of Florida, Pam Hensley of Mattoon, Steve (Marsha) Epperson of Sullivan, Terri (Stu Cummins) Secrest of North Carolina, Greg (Gena) Epperson of Charleston Debbie (Mike) Elder of Sullivan, Angie (Chris) Herbert of Tolono; and several nieces and nephews.

His parents, sister Cathy Goodwin, niece Jessica Epperson, brothers-in-law John Hensley and George Dotson preceded him in death.
