James L. Thompson Sr. (67) of Vandalia

Private family funeral services will be held on Monday, September 14, 2020 at 4:00 p.m. at Gieseking Funeral Home, Brownstown with Pastor Robert Miller officiating. Burial will follow at Griffith Cemetery, Brownstown. Public visitation will be from 2-4 p.m. at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to the donor’s choice.
COVID-19 protocol will be required. This includes but is not limited to face covering and social distancing. Face covering will be required for entry and the number of visitors allowed to enter will be limited. Please be respectful of the health and safety of others.
James was born on Friday, November 14, 1952 in Beckley, WV to Kenneth and Betty (Guffey) Thompson. He married Sherrie E. Hefley on March 14, 1976 at the First Assembly of God, St. Elmo and she preceded him in death on October 26, 2013.
He was formerly employed at Poly-Pak and was a member of the First Assembly of God, St. Elmo.
He is survived by: his sons, James L. Thompson, Jr., Vandalia and John Thompson, Vandalia; brother, Kenny (Vivienne) Thompson, Steger, IL; two nephews, Tony and Leo Thompson; and niece, Brandi Hefley.
He was preceded in death by; his wife and parents.
