Loretta Faye Nichols (75) of rural Neoga, Illinois passed away at 3:10 PM, Wednesday, September 9, 2020, at HSHS St. John's Hospital in Springfield, Illinois. She was born December 20, 1944, in Douglas County, Illinois, the daughter of George and Mary (Reed) Santrock.

One day she decided she was going to start liking Roscoe Nichols and they were married on May 10, 1964 in Trilla, Illinois. Together they had a life filled with love, laughter, and joy. Loretta was a member of the Good Prospect Cumberland Presbyterian Church in Trilla, Illinois. She enjoyed taking care of children and especially loved being with her family and friends.

Loretta leaves her husband, Roscoe Nichols of rural Neoga, Illinois; sons, Greg Nichols of Neoga, Illinois, Marc Nichols of Mattoon, Illinois and Eric Nichols (Jamie)of Norman, Oklahoma; daughter, Lisa Mueller (Tim) of Neoga, Illinois; grandchildren, Sean Nichols, Megan Hartman(Jon), Erika Walk (Evan), Caitlyn Nichols, Brandon Nichols, Allison Pemberton (Broc) and Rebecca Mueller; great grandchildren, Henry Hartman, Andrew Walk, Roscoe, Reed and Rory Pemberton; sisters, Lenora Kinkelaar (Virgil) of Salina, Kansas and Patty Pfeifer of Tolono, Illinois; brother, Larry Santrock (Ellene) of Charleston, Illinois.

She was preceded in death by her parents and brother Robert Santrock. Her caring nature made her the most perfect baby sitter which she still did up until her time of death.

She cared for many children in her years and was like a second mother or grandmother to all of them.

Mrs. Nichols attended Good Prospect Church in Trilla, Illinois where she hardly missed a Sunday service. She loved the Lord with all her heart, body, and soul.She was an avid Chicago Cubs fan, as well as The Fighting Illini Basketball team, and NASCAR. Often when she was not busy watching sports you could find her watching Hallmark movies or reality competition on TV. She was the best cook in the opinion of many in the tri-county area and her Toll House Cookie bars and potato soup will be deeply missed. She was a friend to all and was greatly loved by many.Memorials are suggested to the Good Prospect Cumberland Presbyterian Church of Trilla,Illinois or HSHS Hospice Springfield, Illinois where she received great care in her final days.

Services will be held at 11:00 AM, Tuesday September 15, 2020 in the Good Prospect Cumberland Presbyterian Church of Trilla, Illinois with Pastor Adam McReynolds officiating.Visitation will be Monday, September 14, 2020 from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM in the Swengel-O'Dell Funeral Home of Neoga, Illinois and 1 hour before the service at the church.
