Henry Thomas "Tom" Harris (81) of Mode

Henry Thomas “Tom” Harris, 81, of Mode, IL, passed away at 6:38 p.m. Friday, August 14, 2020 in his residence.

A memorial service will be held at 4:00 p.m. Saturday, September 12, 2020 in Howe and Yockey Funeral Home, Shelbyville, IL with Rev. E. Wade Helmkamp officiating. Burial will be at a later date in Glenwood Cemetery, Shelbyville, IL. Memorials may be given to Saving Orphaned Animals and mailed to Howe and Yockey Funeral Home, 415 N. Broadway, Shelbyville, IL 62565.

Tom was born on February 11, 1939 in Cumberland County, TN, the son of Henry Arthur and Ethel (Spicer) Harris. He worked for Trailmobile in Charleston, IL until his retirement in 2004. Tom also worked for GSI in Assumption, IL and Shelbyville Disposal in Shelbyville, IL. Tom enjoyed being outdoors and was an avid fisherman. He married Susan L. “Susie” Schultz in 1978 and they were married for over 42 years.

He is survived by his wife, Susie; daughter, Vickie Ivey of Flowery Branch, GA; son, Samuel Turner (Olivia) of Mattoon, IL; brother, Ray Harris (Mary) of Granite City, IL; five grandchildren; and three great grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents; son, Steven Harris; two sisters; and three brothers.
