Jerry Ray Colman, 66 of Xenia, entered into eternal peace on Friday, September 4th, 2020.

Jerry was born at Clay County Hospital to Herbert and Beatrice (Colclasure) Colman on February 12, 1954. He was baptized into the Christian faith at Bethel Christian Church in his youth.

Jerry had a passion for the outdoors; hunting, fishing and camping were some of his favorite pastimes. He spent many years farming, and cutting meat for various businesses. He loved to sew leather and his love for animals was indescribable. He trained horses for many years and his gift for taming the untamable was overwhelming. Jerry’s knack for adventure led him to many places, including Yellowstone National Park, Mexico, and through endless trails in the Shawnee National Forest. He even owned a hang glider for some time. As you can see, Jerry’s life was not lacking in adventure. He was a free spirit, and took life one day at time, often flying by the seat of his pants. Jerry was a friend to many and loved beyond words by his family.

Jerry was preceded in death by his mother and father, his son Jeremiah Lee Colman, his step-daughter Sheila Sue Henson, and his sister-in-law Shirley Colman.

He is survived by his wife Brenda (Farris) Colman of Xenia, his daughter Erica (Colman) and husband Jackson Loy of Beecher City, his son Ryan and wife Crystal Ballard of Louisville, brothers Bob Colman of Louisville, Bud and wife Shirley of Clay City, Roger and wife Lisa of Fort Pierce, Florida, John and wife Paulette of Louisville, and sister Susie Polistina of Springfield. He is also survived by is grandchildren Koda Colman, Kyra, and Bote Loy of Beecher City, and Hanna, Collyn, Miah, and Will Ballard of Louisville. Jerry is also survived by five step-children and numerous step-grandchildren.

Memorial Services honoring the life of Jerry will be held at 6 PM Friday, September 11, 2020, at the Bethel Christian Church, Louisville, visitation will be held from 4 to 6 PM, at the church. Memorials may be made to the Clay County Animal Shelter. Due to health concerns related to COVID-19, it is recommended if your attending the services please wear a mask and social distance yourself from others.
