Willmetta Yvonne “Willie” Ohnesorge, 88, of Effingham, Illinois, passed away on Friday, September 4, 2020 at her home.

As per Willie’s wishes, private family graveside services will be held at Arborcrest Memorial Park in Effingham. Services are in the care of Johnson Funeral Home in Effingham, Illinois. Memorials may be made to Effingham County Relay for Life ACS and sent to Johnson Funeral Home, 1110 N. Fourth Street, Effingham, Illinois, 62401. Willie was born on August 12, 1932 to Frank W. and Inez M. (Shadwell) Beever in Funkhouser, Illinois. She grew up in Shumway, Illinois and was baptized at the First Methodist Church in Shumway. She graduated early with the Beecher City High School Class of 1949 with a baton twirling talent. Willie married Howard Ohnesorge on March 1, 1953. Together they raised five children. She was a farmer’s wife and a mother. Willie went to work at World Color Press later and retired after 27 years. She was affiliated with the Trinity Lutheran Church in Shumway, Illinois. Willie enjoyed keeping track of her children and grandchildren. She also enjoyed tractor pulling. She was one of the first ladies to pull in the Powder Puff class. Willie always enjoyed sitting on her back patio doing crossword puzzles and telling a few jokes.

Willie is survived by her son, Sonny Ohnesorge of Dodge, Texas; daughters, Teena (Bert) Brown of Apple Springs, Texas, Taunya Ohnesorge of Effingham, Donez (Mark) McNeely of Effingham, and Tracey Greuel of Effingham; grandchildren, Brandyn Popp, Jarrod Brown, Shelby (Nicole) Baker, Addie (Jeremy) Girouord, Chris (Ashley) Greuel, Toby Greuel, Julia Greuel, Cindy (Roger) Masek, Angie Turner, Jacob McNeely, and Taylor (Chris Wiersema) McNeely; and 14 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; sister, Dee Ohnesorge; infant brother; and daughter-in-law, Linda Turner.
