Lawrence A. “Larry” Rhodes, 70 of Pingree Grove, passed away at 1:31 a.m. Monday, August 3, 2020 at the Mattoon Health and Rehabilitation Center in Mattoon.

Due to COVID-19 Restrictions, a private graveside service will be held at St. Francis Cemetery in Teutopolis with military rites.

Larry served in the US Navy for four years during the Vietnam era. After the completion of his military service he was employed as a civil engineer with Wm J. Murray and then for many years at the City of Springfield and later for Grundy County. He enjoyed time with his family, sons and grandchildren and going to and watching the St. Louis Cardinals ballgames. Larry and his partner in crime, Coco, his beloved dog enjoyed sitting together while Larry enjoyed his favorite pastime of reading on his Kindle.

Larry was born on October 23, 1949 to Dusty and Adele Rhodes of Teutopolis.

Larry is survived by his former wife, who remained a friend, Janet Rhodes of Highland; sons, Tobias (Jackie), Tony (Brionne) and Tyler (Katie); grandchildren, Hannahbelle, Madelyn, Natalee, Lillian, Scarlett, Dominic, Hannah, Nolan, and Mariah; brothers, Don (Jann), twin brother-Gary (Kimberly), Dick (Donna), Tom (Sherri), Lonnie (Kristy), Paul (Becky), Ted (Lisa), Jon (Jessica); sisters, Kathy McMichael, Carol Toney, Kim Rhodes, Sue Stephens (Greg), LuAnn Heuerman (Greg), Annette Davis (Glenn); many nieces and nephews.

Larry was preceded in death by his parents, Dusty and Adele Rhodes and grandson, Issiah.
