Patricia Noretta "Patty" Carl (69) of Greenup

Patricia Noretta "Patty" Carl, 69, of Greenup died at 4:40pm Wednesday, July 29, 2020 at HSHS St. Anthony's Memorial Hospital in Effingham.

Funeral services will be at 2pm Monday, August 3, 2020 at Barkley Funeral Chapel in Greenup. Visitation will be from noon to 2pm Monday. Burial will be in the Block Cemetery, rural Greenup.

Patty was born in Chicago Heights, IL on March 14, 1951 to Lois (Shupe) VanScyoc. She married Harlan Carl on May 20, 1970 and he preceded her in death on February 1, 2009. Together, they had six wonderful children and adopted children that filled their lives with joy. Patty was a homemaker and for many years worked at Mattoon Adult Education Center and the preschool classroom in 1986 and 1987. Patty was known to many as simply Mom and opened her door and heart to anyone who needed it.

Surviving are her children, Patricia Danielle (David) Paul, Tracie Lynn Carl (Tim Parkhurst), Stacey (Monica) Carl, Crystal Irene Carl (Douglas Gray), Ashlie Sue (Alberto) Alaniz and Scott Lee Carl, all of Greenup; brother, Leo (Mary) VanScyoc; adopted son, Heath Allen Stilabower; 14 grandchildren, David Paul Jr., Treven Paul, Braden Paul, Cody McClure, Shania McClure, Harley Sweeten, Bruce Sweeten, Brandon Sweeten, Jacob Sweeten, Emily Carl, Noah Carl, Madison Gray, Katrina Bowen and Armani Alaniz; four adopted grandchildren, Serenity Bacon, Neko Bacon, Kasydee Hannah and Dominic Johnson; two great-grandchildren, Anna Paul and Cody McClure, Jr.; and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her mother.
