Rena Mabel Carpenter Cox Reeves, formerly of Arcola and Tuscola, IL passed from this life to eternity on Saturday, August 1, 2020 at the age of 100 years and 100 days!

Funeral services will be at 11:00 am on Wednesday August 5, 2020 at the Barkley Funeral Chapel in Greenup, IL. Visitation will be from 10:00 to service time on Wednesday at the funeral chapel. Burial will be in the Plainfield Cemetery Rose Hill, IL.

She was born April 23, 1920 in Rose Hill, IL, the third of eight children of Fred and Edna (Coad) Carpenter. She was preceded by her first husband of 25 years, Lovell Cox of Lawrenceville, IL in 1973. She married Neil Reeves in 1976. They had 30 good years together before he passed in 2006. She was preceded in death by siblings, Rex Carpenter, Glen Carpenter, Virginia Carten, Don Carpenter, Eva Loomis, and Nellie Garrison. One sister Edna Emmert of Bloomington survives. She is survived by care givers, nephew David Carpenter and wife Ardys of Mattoon and several other nieces and nephews.

Rena enjoyed growing up in a large family. In her working years she was a seamstress and fancystitcher in the Charleston Shoe factory. She also worked in the Champaign Glove factory sewing gloves for World War II soldiers. She served as school cook in Lawrenceville, IL schools while her husband Lovell, was a teacher there. After marrying Neil, she lived 30 years in the Arcola and Tuscola area. She and Neil loved First Baptist Church of Arcola and served there many years.
