Roland E. Laue, 86, of Effingham, IL, passed away on Tuesday, July 28, 2020 at Effingham Rehabilitation and Health Care Center in Effingham.

A memorial visitation celebrating Roland and his sister Carolyn Mick will be held from 4:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. Friday, August 7, 2020 at Johnson Funeral Home in Effingham. Burial will be in Trinity Lutheran Cemetery in Shumway at a later date. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the American Heart Association. Roland was born on November 1, 1933 in Effingham, IL, the son of Benjamin and Mildred (Owens) Laue. He married Irene Faye Albrecht and to this union were born Jeremy, Kelly and Michael. She preceded him in death. He later married Mary Carolyn Wiedman and she preceded him in death. Roland served his country in the United States Navy as a Radioman 1st Class RM1. He retired from Firestone in Decatur, and later worked in the paint department at Walmart. Roland also worked at Carol’s Package Liquor with his sister. He enjoyed gardening and traveling.

Roland is survived by his son, Michael Laue of Decatur; grandchildren, Ben Laue, Melanie Laue, and Kimberly (Ryan) Childress; 4 great-grandchildren; step-daughter, Anastasia Fears of Worden; sisters, Judith (George) Hansen of Glen Ellyn and Gayle Robbins of Shumway; and sister-in-law, Donna Laue of Alabama.

He was preceded in death by his parents; 2 wives; son, Jeremy Laue; daughter, Kelly Laue; brother, James Laue; and sister, Carolyn Mick.
