Carolyn R. Mick, 88, formerly of Shumway, IL, passed away on Wednesday, July 1, 2020 in Jonesboro, AR.

A memorial visitation celebrating Carolyn and her brother Roland Laue will be held from 4:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. Friday August 7, 2020 at Johnson Funeral Home in Effingham.

Carolyn was born on July 15, 1932 in Shumway, IL the daughter of Benjamin and Mildred (Owens) Laue. She was married to Warren “Salty” Soltwedel of Altamont, IL. They moved to California to work at Lockheed. He was killed in a car accident. She then married Les Heep of California. He died of a brain tumor. She then married Bill Mick and they moved to Jonesboro, AR.

Carolyn attended nursing school and worked at St. Anthony’s Hospital as a nurse’s aide.

Carolyn is survived by her two sisters, Judith (George) Hansen of Glen Ellyn and Gayle Robbins of Shumway; and step-daughters, Patty and Pam.

She was preceded in death by her parents; three husbands; her only son, Douglas Soltwedel; and brothers, James Laue of Albany, GA and Roland Laue of Effingham.
