Brenda Carol (Elzy) Kasey, age 66, of Windsor, Illinois passed away at her home surrounded by family on Saturday, July 4, 2020. Her body was frail, but her will was strong. On this day she gained freedom from her earthly cares and was called with loving-kindness into the garden of Heaven to be with Jesus her Lord and Savior.

Brenda was born in Decatur, Illinois on April 8, 1954 to Arthur Dean and Virginia Lee (Gregory) Elzy. She graduated from Windsor High School, a member of the Class of 1972. She married Patrick L. Kasey on October 6, 1973. Their union was blessed with four children: twin sons and two daughters.

She was a long-time member of the Windsor Baptist Church. She was employed with Windsor Elementary School as a cook, retiring in 2018 after twenty years of service.   Brenda enjoyed decorating her home with antiques and gardening, spending time with her grandchildren and attending their activities and athletic events. Brenda will be remembered for her quiet strength, loyal friendship and her unfailing love and devotion to family and Christ.

Surviving are her children: Blake (Amy) Kasey of Windsor, John (Mandy) Kasey of Mattoon, Jill (Mike) Stevens of Villa Grove and Kristen (Jason) Starwalt of Windsor; ten grandchildren: Kalee, Jared, Landon, Caleb, Graham, Parker, Ian, Avery, Leah and Mathilda; step-mother, Diane Elzy of Westfield; four sisters: Sandra Elzy of Mattoon, Sally (Glen) Turnipseed of Windsor, Deana (Steve) Scott of Mattoon, and Janet (Larry) Hostetter of Oklahoma.

Preceding her in death were her husband, parents and one sister, Donna Jean Elzy.

Pastors’ Wayne Boling and Steve LeCrone will officiate the memorial service celebrating her life. Services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, July 9th, 2020 at Windsor Baptist Church, 406 S. Pine Street in Windsor. Visitation will be from 10:00 a.m. to the time of service at Windsor Baptist Church. Final resting place will be with her husband at Greenhill Cemetery in Sullivan, Illinois. Lovins-Lockart Funeral Home in Windsor is assisting the family.
