James M. Rogers, 78, of Effingham, IL, formerly of Beecher City, IL, passed away on Saturday, July 4, 2020 at his home with his family by his side.

Celebration of Life services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, July 18 at Effingham Assembly Church, 3200 S. Banker Street, Effingham, IL. Visitation will be held from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. Saturday, July 18, 2020 prior to the service at the church. Arrangements are in the care of Johnson Funeral Home in Effingham. Jim was born on April 17, 1942, in Beecher City, IL, the son of Charles and Violet (Miller) Rogers. He worked at Norge in Effingham for three years. Jim married Brenda Babbs on August 11, 1963, and they moved to Decatur where he worked at Wagner Casting for 2 yrs. In 1967, he got hired at Caterpillar Tractor and worked there for 30 years. After retirement, Jim and his wife moved to Florida for 5 ½ years. Then they moved to New Mexico for 6 ½ years. In 2008, they moved back to Effingham. Jim enjoyed camping with his wife, visiting almost every state. He loved helping his son Phil on his farm. Jim loved taking care of his yard and also mowed for his children. Jim was a member of Effingham Assembly Church for 26 years.

Jim is survived by his wife, Brenda Rogers of Effingham; children, Tami (Jeff) Mayes of Beecher City, Phil (Janet Brooks) Rogers of Beecher City, and Shane (Stephanie Lucas) Rogers of Casey; 6 grandchildren, 7 great-grandchildren; and sister, Joyce (Norman) Hawbaker of Fort Myers, FL.

He was preceded in death by his parents; and brothers, Rodell, Billy and Bob Rogers.
