Karen was born on July 11, 1944, the daughter of Kay and Norman Glisson. She married Denton Nelson on April 29, 1969 in Joliet, IL. He preceded her in death on May 7, 2015.

Karen was blessed with a large and loving family. Her devotion to her family and her firm belief in God supported her through this final journey to peace. Karen also loved people. She was an incredibly strong and caring person. Karen had the heart of a true mother and was simply known as “mom” to countless children.

Karen is survived by her four children, Debra Lucas of Louisville, IL and her husband Wayne, Denise Mason of Watson, IL and her husband Dennis, Paul “Butch” Nelson of Effingham, IL and his wife Lori, and Tina Hunter of Vandalia, IL and her husband Jim. She is also survived by many, many grandchildren and great-grandchildren; and brother, Virgil “Butch” Glisson of De Soto, IL.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; Denton “Denny” Nelson; and brother, Deon Brown.

Although mourning the loss of a beautiful, strong, woman, her family is celebrating the fact she is now, and for eternity, whole and healed in the presence of her Lord Jesus Christ.
