Frieda Louise Redicks, 88, of Shelbyville, IL passed away at 1:22 p.m. Tuesday, June 30, 2020 in HSHS St. John’s Hospital, Springfield, IL.

Family graveside services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Friday, July 3, 2020 in Glenwood Cemetery, Shelbyville, IL with Rev. Nathan Woolery officiating. Arrangements are by Howe and Yockey Funeral Home, Shelbyville, IL. Memorials may be given to Holy Cross Lutheran Church in Shelbyville, and mailed to Howe and Yockey Funeral Home, 415 N. Broadway, Shelbyville, IL 62565.

Frieda was born on January 27, 1932 in Oakley, Kansas, the daughter of Rev. Joseph Paul Ernest George and Josephine Emma (Trietsch) Kerkhoff. Frieda graduated from Broadlands High School and then attended nursing school in Indiana. She worked as a Hearing and Vision Technician for the Shelby County Health Department for many years. She also was a floral designer for Kull’s Floral Shop and the Floral Boutique both in Shelbyville and owned and operated a fabric store in Shelbyville. Frieda was a skilled seamstress, flower gardener and cook. She enjoyed playing cards with her siblings and was a member of several bridge clubs. Frieda was an active member of Holy Cross Lutheran Church for 70 years. She married Harold Otho Redicks on September 1, 1951 and he preceded her in death on September 15, 2011.

Frieda is survived by her daughters Connie Lynn Phelps (Alan) of Effingham, IL, Paula R. Eissfeldt (Ted) of Naples, FL, Mary Louise Parkes (John) of Camargo, IL, and Heidi Jo Bunton of Shelbyville, IL; brothers, Paul Kerkhoff of Champaign, IL and Larry Kerkhoff of Chicago, IL; brother-in-law, Ernest Garbe of Dietrich, IL; sister-in-law, Nancy Kerkhoff of Monticello, IL; 10 grandchildren, Tracy, Erin, Ashley, Lyndsay, Lauren, John, Alex, Claire, Lily, and Chloe; and 10 great grandchildren, Olivia, Sophia, Charles, Audrey, Peter, Vivienne, Oliver, Hannah, Katherine, and Frederick.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Harold; brother, Joseph Kerkhoff; and sister, Patricia Garbe.
