Donald E. Schwartz, 90, of Altamont died at 6:35 a.m. Wednesday, June 24, 2020 at Lutheran Care Center, Altamont.
Celebration of Life Service will be held at a later date with burial at Mason Cemetery, Mason, IL. Gieseking Funeral Home, Altamont is assisting with arrangements.
Donald Edward Schwartz was born on Friday, February 21, 1930 in Cincinnati, Ohio to Albert Jacob and Ada Elizabeth (Ismael) Schwartz. He married Geraldine (Norris) Helm on September 24, 2003. He served in the US Army and was a retired registered nurse having been employed with the State of California. He was a member of the First United Methodist Church, Altamont, Altamont Masonic Lodge #533, Elks Lodge and American Legion in Harlingen, TX.
He is survived by his wife, Geraldine Schwartz of Altamont; step sons, Mark Helm of Denver, CO and Brian Helm of Colorado Springs, CO; 7 step grandchildren and 3 step-great grandchildren.
Don was preceded in death by his stepson, Dennis Helm and step grandson, Matthew Helm.
