M. Jo Swinehart (65) of St. Elmo

M. Jo Swinehart, 65, of St. Elmo, Illinois died at 2:10 a.m. Friday, March 1, 2013 at St. Anthony's Memorial Hospital, Effingham.
Jo was born on Saturday, June 14th, 1947 in Perrysville, PA., to the late Robert Culbertson and Helen (Hieber) Garvin of Wooster, Ohio. Jo married Jim Swinehart November 7th, 1964 in Wooster Ohio. They had three children, Kelly (Randy) Orr; Marni Swinehart; both of rural St. Elmo and Nicholas Swinehart of rural Brownstown. Jo received her Bachelor Degree in Sociology with a minor in psychology from Southwestern Oklahoma State University, Weatherford, Oklahoma in 1989. She was listed in the Who’s Who among college students as a result of her high GPA. Jo worked for Hospice of Lincolnland, Lakeland Nursing and Rehabilitation Center, and most recently as a case worker for Senior Services of Fayette County. She enjoyed bass fishing, auctions, garage sales, re-sale shops, craft shows and spending time with her family. She adored her grand babies and watched after them every chance she got. She was a devoted and loving wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, sister and friend.
There will be a visitation for Jo on Thursday, March 7th, from 5-7 pm at Gieseking Funeral Home in Altamont with a memorial service following the visitation. Memorials may be made to E.A.R.S. or Hospice.
Jo is survived by her husband Jim, her three children, her granddaughters, Nicole Flowers of St. Elmo and Kolbi Swinehart of Brownstown, her great grandson Bryson Arnold of St. Elmo, brother Bob (Becky) Culbertson of Skaneateles, NY, sister Pat (Hugh) Rooney of Richmond, VA., step father, Edgar Garvin of Wooster, OH., and her special feline friend, Maggie.
She was preceded in death by her parents.
