Robert R. “Dick” Robinson, 85, of Effingham, IL, passed away on Saturday, March 28, 2020 at his home.

Per Dick’s wishes, cremation rites will be accorded. Johnson Funeral Home in Effingham is assisting the family. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Fear Nothing, P.O. Box 453, Effingham, IL 62401 or St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital. Online condolences can be shared by clicking here.

Dick was born on December 29, 1934, in Yale, IL, the son of Willard and Beulah (Bates) Robinson. He married Linda Cashman on February 14, 1957 in Newton, IL. He served his country in the United States Army. Dick was a member of the Ste. Marie American Legion Post 932. Dick enjoyed being a farmer and his John Deere tractors. Later in life, he worked at the Jasper County Highway Department for over 25 years. Dick had a love of gardening and was proud of his accomplishments in the garden. He was known for growing tall corn and tomatoes.

Dick is survived by his wife, Linda of Effingham; children, Ricky Robinson of Newton, Cindy Robinson of Effingham, and Patty (Pat) Diel of Newton; grandchildren, Stacy (Brentley) Utley, Kacy Robinson, Nicole Hamilton, Brandy (Justin) Dunn, and Grant (Jessica) Diel; 11 great-grandchildren; and sister, Clara Mae Henderson.

He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Charlie Robinson; and sister, Dorothy Mefford.
