Eugene Arthur "Gene" Moeller (85) of Altamont

Eugene Arthur ‘Gene’ Moeller, Sr. 85, of Moccasin, died at 5:20 p.m. on Thursday, March 19, 2020 at Evergreen Healthcare, Effingham.

There will be no services at this time. A celebration of life service will be held at a later date and will be publicized. Memorials may be made to the donor’s choice. Gieseking Funeral Home, Altamont is assisting the family with arrangements.

Gene was born on Saturday, November 17, 1934 in Kinmundy, IL to Theodor and Elna (Drewes) Moeller. He married Betty Keller on November 15, 1969 at Calvary Baptist Church, Effingham and she survives. He was a member of St. Paul ‘Blue Point’ Lutheran Church, Altamont. He was a retired custodian at Beecher City Unit 20 school district. He also worked at Kemme’s Berries and Carlen Fertilizer both of Moccasin. He and Betty were foster parents for 37 years fostering over 100 children. Gene proudly served his country in the United States Army.

In addition to his wife he is survived by; his son, Eugene, Jr. (Angela), Decatur; daughters, April Moeller, Moccasin, Gena (Travis) Blair, Moccasin, Kathy Robison, Altamont; grandchildren, Alexandra (Nick Roley) Blair, Kiel Moeller, Kolton Robison, Konnor Robison, Ethan Moeller, and Olivia Moeller; and many nieces, nephews, and friends.

He was preceded in death by; his parents; brothers, Floyd Moeller, Theodor Moeller; sisters, Vera Moeller, Marion Butts, Bernice Sachan, Evelyn Hencke, Judith English; 2 grandchildren, Owen Moeller and Baby Moeller.
