Leon Lankford, 65, of Effingham, IL, passed away on Thursday, March 12, 2020 at his home.

According to Leon’s wishes, cremation rites will be accorded. A celebration of life will be held at a later date. Johnson Funeral Home in Effingham, IL, is assisting the family. Online condolences may be shared by clicking here.                                          

Leon was born on January 7, 1955, in Vandalia, IL, the son of Noah and Mary (Tucker) Lankford.

He graduated from Effingham High School. He enjoyed fishing, camping, and sitting around a campfire. Leon loved and supported his grandchildren. He also had a love for animals.

Leon is survived by his daughter, Alisha (Shawn) Musgrave of Decatur; daughter, Lacey Monday Lankford; grandchildren, David and Mackenzie Chalmers; siblings, Doug Lankford, John (Laura) Lankford, Sandy Stonum (special friend, Vic Arnold), Becky Lankford, and Susan (Brock) Goeckner; step-mother, Carol Lankford; and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his father; son, Josh Lankford; and brother, Lonnie Dale.
