Dorothy M. Aitken, 80, of Beecher City, IL passed away at 11:00 p.m. Thursday, March 12, 2020 at HSHS St. Anthony’s Memorial Hospital in Effingham, IL.

Dorothy was born on October 31, 1939, in Champaign. She was raised in the Effingham area by Dova Frost and was a 1958 graduate of Effingham High School. Dorothy and Roy Aitken were united in holy matrimony on November 2, 1958. She was a linotype operator at the Effingham Daily News for about six years beginning in high school and was the bookkeeper for Aitken Refrigeration for nearly 43 years.

She is survived by her husband, Roy Aitken of Beecher City; two children: Marsha (husband, Lloyd “Digger”) Kinder and James Aitken, all of Beecher City; three grandchildren: Jennifer Brown (fiancé, Kenny Howell) of Beecher City, SSgt Tyler (wife, Breonna) Aitken, stationed with the USAF in England and SSgt Austin (wife, McKenna) Aitken, stationed with the USAF in South Carolina; three great-grandchildren: Kinsley, Liam and Everett; step-greatgrandchildren: Wesson and Remmington; siblings: Mary Farruggia of Champaign, Ray Bush of Bethany, Vivian (husband, Eugene) Robertson of Altamont; half-brothers: Jim (wife, Helga) Parish and Charlie (wife, Sharon) Parish and numerous nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by brother, Russell Bush and mother-in-law, Blanche Lutz.
