Bernard Henry "Bernie" Ruholl, 93, of Teutopolis, IL, passed away Wednesday, March 11, 2020 at his home.

Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Monday, March 16 at St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church in Teutopolis with burial in St. Francis Cemetery with military graveside rites. Visitation will be held from 3:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. Sunday at the church. Services are in the care of Johnson Funeral Home in Effingham.

Bernie was born on March 7, 1927, in Lillyville, the son of Henry and Elizabeth (Goldstein) Ruholl. He married Dorothy Goeckner on October 9, 1954. He and his siblings were raised in Lillyville. Bernie was stationed near the Front during the Korean Conflict and achieved the rank of Staff Sergeant. He retired from Siemer Milling Company after 40 years. He was a member of the Teutopolis American Legion Post 924. Bernie and Dorothy had eight children and recently celebrated 65 years of marriage. He was an accomplished woodworker.

Bernie is survived by his children, Jane (Danny) Plummer of Montrose, Randy (Jane) Ruholl of Teutopolis, Elaine (Vernon) Tegeler of Teutopolis, Alice (John) Flynn of Effingham, Patty (Tim) Kessler of Mode, Ron (Twilla) Ruholl of Teutopolis, and Cheryl (Herb) Meeker of Teutopolis; 26 grandchildren; 36 great-grandchildren; brother, Allie (Dorothy) Ruholl of Lillyville; sister-in-law, Bertha Hardig of Effingham; and brother-in-law, Joe Willenborg of Altamont.                 

He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Dorothy; daughter, Charlotte; siblings, Adella Ruholl, Florence (Louis) Bushur, Alice Ruholl, Mildred (Paul) Thoele, Henry Ruholl, and Ambrose (Agnes) Ruholl.
