Robert Laverne "Bob" Quick, age 93, of Edgewood, Illinois passed away at 6:45 p.m. Wednesday, March 11, 2020 at Lakeland Rehabilitation and Health Care Center in Effingham, Illinois.

Funeral service will be at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, March 14 at Friedens United Church of Christ in Farina, Illinois. There will be a one-hour visitation prior to the service. Zach Garrett will be officiating. Burial will be at Keen’s Chapel Cemetery in rural LaClede, Illinois. Memorials may go to Shriner’s Hospital or Keen’s Chapel Cemetery Fund. Bob was born on October 23, 1926 in Farina, Illinois, the son of Harold and Nellie (Hockman) Quick. He married Leila Fern Quandt on August 25, 1977 in Effingham, Illinois. Bob went into the Military at age 17 during World War II and served in the Philippines. After the military, Bob worked for the Gulf Pipeline where he was able to save his money to purchase his own business, Gulf Station, in 1956. He was a 4H horse and pony leader for Rough Riders at Cambridge City, Indiana. He was a member of the Edgewood American Legion Post #1168, St. Clair Beekeepers Association, and 50 Year Past Master of the Masonic Lodge in Cambridge City. He won Beekeeper of the Year in 2008. He loved gardening, beekeeping, and spending time with his family and friends.

He is survived by his son, Ron Quick (wife Ruthie) of Forney, Texas; daughter, Shelley Dailey of Richmond, Indiana; two step-sons, Paul Lash Jr. of Farina, Illinois and Fred Lash (wife Sandy) of Watson, Illinois; step-daughter, Brenda Shouse (husband Richard) of Lebanon, Indiana; several grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Harold and Nellie Quick; wife, Leila Fern Quick; two sisters, Kathleen Johnson and Nadine Mulvaney.
