Ronald “Tanker” Buening, 74 of Effingham, passed away Wednesday, March 11, 2020 at HSHS St. Anthony's Memorial Hospital in Effingham.

Funeral services will be held at 12:00 p.m. Saturday, March 14 at Bauer Funeral Home in Effingham with private family burial in St. Michael Cemetery, Sigel. Visitation will be held from 9:30 a.m. to time of service, Saturday morning at the funeral home. Memorial donations may be given to the charity of the donor’s choice. Tanker was born July 28, 1945 in Sigel, the son of John “Jack” and Phyllis (Swingler) Buening. He was a heavy equipment operator for many years.

Tanker is survived by his mother, Phyllis of Effingham; siblings, Danny Buening of Effingham, Marilyn Barding of New Port Richey, FL, Linda Keeney of Wentzville, MO, Kay (John) Feldhake of Effingham, Sue (Henry) Haarmann of Effingham, Karen (Larry) Budde of Teutopolis, Sheila Edwards (Bob) West, Jeannie (Keith) Westendorf of Teutopolis, Cheryl (Carl) Gebben of Algonquin and Doug Buening of Effingham; special family friend, Tim (Debbie) Koester of Effingham; numerous nieces, nephews and great-nieces and nephews.

Tanker was preceded in death by his father and two brothers, Bob and David Buening.
