Dorothy Helen Ruholl, 90, of Teutopolis, IL, passed away Tuesday, January 7, 2020 at Lakeland Rehabilitation and Health Care Center in Effingham.

Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Friday, January 10 at St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church in Teutopolis with burial in St. Francis Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. with a 6:45 p.m. CCW rosary Thursday all at the church. Services are in the care of Johnson Funeral Home in Effingham.

Dorothy was born on August 24, 1929, in Bishop, the daughter of John and Elizabeth (Buenker) Goeckner. She was raised in Bishop and married Bernard “Bernie” H. Ruholl, Lillyville, on October 9, 1954. They had eight children. Dorothy was a homemaker and worked at Keller Ramada Inn. She was a member of the Council of Catholic Women and St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church.

Dorothy is survived by her husband of 65 years, Bernie Ruholl of Teutopolis; children, Jane (Danny) Plummer of Montrose, Randy (Jane) Ruholl of Teutopolis, Elaine (Vernon) Tegeler of Teutopolis, Alice (John) Flynn of Effingham, Patty (Tim) Kessler of Mode, Ronnie (Twilla) Ruholl of Teutopolis, and Cheryl (Herb) Meeker of Teutopolis; 26 grandchildren; 34 great-grandchildren; sister, Bertha Hardig of Effingham; brother-in-law, Joe Willenborg of Altamont; and brother-in- law and sister-in-law, Allie and Dorothy M. Ruholl.                          

She was preceded in death by her daughter, Charlotte; her parents; siblings, Cecilia Willenborg and John Goeckner; and half-sisters, Theresa Kremer, Sister Eustacia Goeckner, Elizabeth Habing, Caroline Dooley, and Marie Lerfeld.
