John Curtis Katro, age 84, of Dundas, Illinois, passed away at 6:50 PM Thursday, January 2, 2019.

Graveside services with full military rites will be held at 1:00 PM Wednesday, January 8 at St. Paul’s Lutheran Cemetery in rural West Liberty, Illinois with Mike Knepper officiating. John was born on July 13, 1935, in Jasper County, Illinois, the son of John and Millie (Spelbring) Katro. He married Wanda Harding on September 4, 1960, in Olney, Illinois, and she preceded him in death on January 20, 2017.

John served his country in the United States Army from 1958 to 1960. He was a farmer and worked for many years at the Kennedy Elevator, Willow Hill Grain and then for TGM before retiring. 

John was an avid tractor puller for many years. He enjoyed hunting, fishing and St. Louis Cardinals baseball. He was a member of the Jasper County Farm Bureau.

John is survived by: Son – Chris (Tori) Katro of Springfield, Illinois; Grandchildren – Russell (Rachel) Zoerner, Bethany (Andy) Barnes and Dustin Zoerner; Great Grandchildren – Gavin Zoerner, Grace Zoerner, Ace Barnes, Evelyn Barnes and Tristan Brown.

John was preceded in death by his parents and wife Wanda.
