Ryan J. Dunaway, 43, of Herrick, IL passed away on Saturday, January 4, 2020 at home.

Ryan was born on March 26, 1976, in Effingham, the son of Larry Dunaway and Paula Anderson. He attended Cowden-Herrick High School and the Herrick Baptist Church. Ryan worked for B & B Industrial Services, Incorporated as a bricklayer. He enjoyed raising longhorn cattle, traveling to high school rodeos with Kendyll, performing at rodeos as a rodeo clown in his younger years, riding side by sides with Brodey and spending time with family and friends. Ryan did not know a stranger.

Surviving are his daughter, Kendyll Dunaway of Shelbyville; son, Brodey VanHooser of Morrisonville; mother, Paula Tieffel of Herrick; father, Larry (Missy) Dunaway of Cowden; brother, Eric Dunaway of Herrick; maternal grandfather, Ray Anderson of Manilla, IN; paternal grandmother, Lois Dunaway of Cowden; nieces, Taylor Dunaway of Cowden and Ashlyn Dunaway of Fancher and numerous cousins.

He was preceded in death by his maternal grandmother, Lois Anderson; paternal grandfather, Gerald Dunaway; stepfather, Jerry Tieffel; uncle, Frankie Dunaway and aunt, Diana Doty.

Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. Thursday, January 9 at the Free Methodist Church, 107 N 3 rd Street, Cowden. Burial will take place in Mound Cemetery in rural Cowden. Visitation will be from 4:00-8:00 p.m. on Wednesday at the church. Memorials may be made to the family. Western or casual attire is requested by the family.
